The Advisory Circle

Remember, electricity can not be seen or heard. Harmful, invisible forces surround us everywhere we go. Fortunately, The Advisory Circle is on hand to help us make the right decisions.

The Advisory Circle is one of the core acts of the Ghost Box collective. Originally inspired by library music and the sound-world of British public information films, Cate Brooks has developed this aesthetic into her own unique and recognizable electronica. A much sort after producer and composer with a masterly control of her material.

“…Inspired by the sounds of 70s ‘polytechnic’ TV – Open University, Public Information Films, Play For Today – Jon Brooks’ Advisory Circle tap into a collective nostalgia for a post-war paternalistic Britain.”

“… a disarmingly sincere, pellucidly beautiful, and hauntingly disorientating exploration of your civilisation’s problematic relationship with the landscapes of its past.”
Sunday Times

“…its earnest electronics and broad winged optimism get surprisingly deep under the skin.”
The Wire

“…Boards Of Canada style meldings of the cosmic and the rustic, but Brooks’ music displays an artisanal care.”
